Capture of Escaped Inmate from Iowa

The Illinois State Police was notified at 7:22 a.m., on July 5, 2015, of an escaped inmate (Justin James Kestner) from the Iowa Department of Corrections, Fort Madison facility.  The Henry County Sheriff’s Department located an abandoned vehicle that was suspected of being stolen by the escaped inmate.  A search of the area was conducted and Kestner was located by an Illinois State Trooper at 9:52 a.m., on July 5, 2015, walking Illinois Route 82, ½ mile south of I-80.  Kestner fled into a corn field, then exited the corn field and was taken into custody.  Kestner was transported to the Henry County Jail.
