(Pecatonica) – Illinois State Police District 16 personnel collected food items and other donations to support the Rock River Valley Pantry (RRVP) during their recent Christmas party. Troopers and other staff, both active and retired, collected a 55-gallon drum of groceries and $1951.00 in funds, which were delivered this morning.
Donations came in to the Pecatonica post in order to support the pantry at 421 S. Rockton Avenue in Rockford. In 2013, the pantry provided more than 763,000 nutritious meals to families in urgent need.
Each year, District 16 selects an organization within its four northwestern Illinois counties to expand its mission of community caretaking. “The men and women of District 16 are honored to lend a helping hand and provide the most basic of human needs. I’m extremely proud of this organization and its members.” stated Captain Todd Rohlwing, District 16 Commander.
