SPRINGFIELD - Illinois State Police (ISP) deployed 40 Troopers to Washington D.C. to assist with security efforts during the Presidential Inauguration.
The ISP is among 90 law enforcement agencies from across the United States that have been asked to assist the U.S. Secret Service and the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department with security during the Presidential Inauguration scheduled for Monday, January 21. The officers from the various agencies assisting with the detail will be deputized as Deputy U.S. Marshals during the inaugural events.
“The Illinois State Police is pleased to have been asked to assist with security efforts during this historic event,” said ISP Director Hiram Grau. “The men and women of the Illinois State Police tasked with this most important mission proudly accepted the assignment and I am confident they will represent the ISP honorably,” added Grau.
