Illinois State Police Strike Team to Provide Rapid Response
SPRINGFIELD - Illinois State Police (ISP) processed 29 Troopers on Saturday, November 10 to make a relief journey to New Jersey.
ISP Troopers from across the state volunteered for the assignment to assist law enforcement and public safety officials in New Jersey in some of the hardest hit areas. Fellow New Jersey Officers deputized the officers upon their arrival to New Jersey on November 11.
Numerous police officers and firefighters have also lost their homes, but continued to work extended hours. “I’m proud of our Troopers’ voluntary response to render aid in the relief effort,” said ISP Director Hiram Grau. “Each of them is leaving behind their families to put their lives on the line for the benefit of others. Their sacrifice is commendable,” he added.
The deployed Troopers are expected to return to Illinois on November 18.
