LaSalle Police Canine Unit Assists With Seizure
LaSalle County – At approximately 1:52 a.m., on August 25, 2011, Illinois State Police were conducting routine patrols near I -80 eastbound, mile post 77, when a vehicle was observed speeding and following too closely.
The vehicle was stopped, and upon further investigation the Trooper requested the assistance of LaSalle Police Canine Unit. The unit responded and a positive hit was detected from the exterior of the vehicle. Further investigation revealed two suitcases containing a total of 55 pounds of cannabis.
“This arrest is an example of how our troopers respond to routine traffic patrols and uncover illegal and criminal activity,” said District 17 Interim Commander Lieutenant Jeff Bain. “It illustrates good police instincts and the important role of our surrounding law enforcement partners – La Salle’s Canine Unit in this particular investigation,” he added.
Police arrested Linh D. Thai, 35, of San Jose CA, and charged him with Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Deliver.
