 Fast Track for Experienced Officers

diagonal image
The Illinois State Police Academy has developed an innovative performance-driven program called Fast Track. This program will allow individuals with prior police experience the opportunity to participate in an accelerated cadet training program! Specifically, those who have within the past year been employed as certified police officers with arrest authority and who have a minimum of six months prior experience (excluding classroom and field training) are eligible to apply.

The typical cadet program is 26 weeks in length. This performance-based Fast Track program is approximately 12 weeks.

Pretests required in the selection process are based on actual ISP Academy course content. Scores attained on the pretests will indicate the degree to which each candidate for selection has, through his/her experience, previously acquired knowledge specific to the existing Academy curriculum. Quality training remains the goal for all Cadet training. The Teaching, Assessing and Correcting (TAC) program, which has been a major contributing factor to the success of recent cadet classes, will be implemented throughout the Fast Track program.
